From the Ilkhani era and after that, they decorated all the gravestones; The decorations and engravings on the tombstones were based on the occupation of the deceased. One of the types of decorations on these gravestones was in the shape of a lion, which was known as a lion, a stone lion or bardshir, were stone statues, which were a symbol of courage and bravery, and were placed on the graves of people who showed their bravery or to sacrifice their lives like the generals and warriors of war, that is, when a warrior or a warrior died, they did not put an ordinary tombstone on his grave; A carved stone lion or stone ram was placed on his grave as a tombstone, which indicated that this person was a brave and powerful person.
Stone lions are still made in Bakhtiari areas to be placed on graves, but these lions are no longer similar to bardshirs. The new lion stones are carved from granite, marble and industrial stones and are made more like Roman lions.
This lionstone has been recreated by the artists of Destan Art Group, according to the lions that were placed on the tombs of the brave men of the Ilkhanid era, made of pottery fired at 850 degrees and turquoise glaze fired at 950 degrees.
